Angelina Jolie may choose to receive varicose vein treatment for her arms before her wedding to Brad Pitt this year
Although this material is fodder for trashy magazines, the plight of celebrities in the public domain is generally not discussed in our clinic. As Angelina Jolie’s arms are used as examples by our patients seeking treatment for arm veins I make note of this presentation in our clinic.
I tell patients with prominent arm veins that these are generally normal and are prominent due to little body fat.
To be honest arm veins are the last thing I notice as a male and a vein doctor looking at Angelina Jolie. My advice to her should she insist on treatment would be to rely on a very experienced doctor performing ultrasound guided sclerotherapy. My personal preference however would be to do a targeted treatment on the prominent arm veins using endovenous laser (EVLA).
Angelina Jolie has been in the spotlight for a number of years and because of this she has long been scrutinised for her appearance. Recently, she has been under the spotlight for “varicose veins” that appear as long raised vine-like bumps on her arms.
According to the National Enquirer Jolie is excited about wearing a sleeveless dress and in order to make sure that a positive appearance is showcased she may choose to receive treatment for her varicose veins. I wonder how true this is. In my experience it is usually women putting pressure on their “sisters in arms” (pardon the pun).
For completeness, a phlebologist performs the following procedures to safely eliminate varicose (or prominent veins in the upper limb) and spider veins;
