Varicose Vein & Spider Vein Treatment Costs

How much does it cost?

It is difficult to give detailed information about costs for your treatment until you have been examined as part of your initial consultation. At that time you will be given exact costings. However, as a guideline, you can expect to pay approximately $2,000 for cosmetic treatment of spider veins (this is the total cost for both legs) and between $1,500 - $3,000 for each leg for the treatment of deeper veins that require either Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy or Endovenous Laser Ablation.

Medicare rebates apply to the treatment of deeper veins and these rebates will be detailed for you at the time of your initial consultation.

Thank you for giving a price estimate as most clinics are too scared & I've been trying to find out for a long time now. I am in Perth, any suggestions on where to go over here?

is ther anyone that bulk bills this kind of procedure?desperate to get it done but cant afford it, till i save up otherwise and its painful!

Hi Adam, There is no doctor that I am aware of who bulk bills any of these procedures. Cosmetic treatments do not have a Medicare item number so cannot be bulk billed and laser treatments have very expensive consumables so if they were bulk billed the
doctor would be losing money. Good luck in your quest to find someone.

What is the estimated price for a consult?
Anonymous commented on 23-Aug-2012 01:29 PM3 out of 5 stars
Hi Carly, A cosmetic consult costs $95 and a consultation for varicose veins costs either $150 or $185 depending on whether you have a doctors referral. You get most of this consultation back on Medicare. For exact rebates please ring Diana or Louise at
the clinic on 55381133.

Can any of it be claimed on private health insurance?
Dr Paul Varcoe commented on 19-Nov-2012 07:29 AM3 out of 5 stars
Only the stockings can be claimed from your Private Health Fund and then usually only if you have "Extra's". For you to be able to claim for medical procedures from Private Health Funds they need to be performed in a hospital.

Hi I'm just wondering to have laser treatment, and sclerotherapy, is it 2-3 thousand out of pocket, or do you subtract Medicare rebate from that? Plus how many sclerotherapy treatments would you expect to have following laser treatment. Thanks

Aching legs commented on 26-Sep-2015 10:13 PM3 out of 5 stars
I went for a consult in 2010 and was told that medicare and pvt hlth funds doesnt provide any rebate. As it seems really expensive i did not go ahead with it. My legs are always aching and i always wear pants because of the unsightly veins. I am considering getting it done within the next 12 months. So when did the rebates started? And is there a clinic in darwin?

I have bulging varicose veins on left leg ( after pregnancy ) they are unsightly and put me off wearing shorts, I am worried they are getting worse, I also have spider veins on right leg but the left leg is worst, do I need a doctors referral to go to the clinic?
